“One day you’re going to wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted to do. So do them now.”

This kinda goes off of my post “Don’t let your fears decide your fate” and my whole spiel about wanting to start a YouTube channel for so long but never taking any action. I posted that blog post a few days ago and although I have not gotten a camera or posted any videos yet, I have started recording clips on my phone so I can practice editing. I told my boyfriend about what I want to do— telling someone close to you helps make your goals more realistic and can help you to actually stick to them. Even taking such a small step feels so so good.

I’m trying to make an effort to stop worrying about things that aren’t important, to stop caring what other people think of me or might think of me. I not only want to, but I need to start stepping out of my comfort zone. And trust me, I know better then anybody that it’s easier said then done!

So start small, you don’t have to go skydiving or quit your job and move to a different country. Try a new food you might be afraid of or wear an outfit that you like, but wouldn’t normally wear. Do your hair a different style or go make up free for a day. And don’t try to conquer everything all at once, take it a day at a time. Maybe start with trying something new every month, and then every week, and eventually it’ll become something you don’t even have to think about anymore.

For me, I’m starting with two things: doing more research and moving forward in my YouTube journey and being less afraid of what people think of me in the gym. I started lifting weights about a month ago but I’m still scared of the big bad weight room. I keep my workouts in the little aerobics room my gym has even though the weight room has machines that will better my workouts and that I want to try! Why am I letting fear stop me from doing something that I want to do?!

So pick one or two things. They can be something you’ve wanted to do for a long time or it can be something you discovered 5 minutes ago.

Some tips for stepping out of your comfort zone

  •  Write them down — this helps turn those ideas and thoughts into reality.
  • Tell a friend– they can help hold you accountable and maybe they’ll even want to join you!
  • Once you decide you’re going to do something, STICK TO IT! No matter how nervous you may feel. Besides, you know what they say, “I only regret the things I didn’t do”.
