“Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Three things you should ask yourself before you open your mouth.”
“Radiate what you want people to reciprocate.”
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”
“When you’ve had a bad day, a really bad day, try to treat the world better than it treated you.”
“Leave people better than you found them.”
With all the changes I’ve been going through recently I have also been doing a ton of self-reflection. I’ve really been thinking about who I am as a person, what is the most important thing to me, and the type of legacy I want to leave behind. What I want people to think of when they think of me or when they describe me to somebody else. And all I have been focusing on is being a good person. A humble, true, down to earth, genuinely good person. When somebody thinks of me I want them to think of happiness and positivity. I want them to describe me as being the person who is always looking out for and checking up on everybody else. Someone who instantly brightens any room they walk into. I want to be a light in someone else’s life.
It is so so easy to be negative, hateful, and heartless. And I feel like a lot of people now -a-days are somewhat striving to be that way, like it’s “cool” to not care about anything. And I’m not going to lie, in high school that’s exactly who I was. I was a mean bitch! Who was negative and unhappy for really no reason at all. But that’s such a dark way to live! Why choose negativity when you can choose to be positive? Why choose hate when you can choose love? “Your circumstances can’t always change, but your attitude can.” Attitude is everything!!
Life is so much more fulfilling and rewarding when you love one another. When you spread positivity and happiness. When you are kind. “It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice.”
I have found myself having the desire to just be a good person. To look out for my friends and be there for them unconditionally. Smile at strangers, hold the door open for the person behind me, say hello to everybody that passes by. Choose happiness everyday and spread my happiness to others. “Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too.” I think the number one, most important thing in life is to be happy. At the end of each day, I just want to be genuinely happy with myself and my life. The first place to start is obviously with yourself. But it’s also important to surround yourself with people who are radiating the same things that you are. So surround yourself genuinely good people. People who make you feel good and make you want to be better. They’re the type of people that you need.
“Find what you love and spend you time loving it, do not find what you hate and spend your time hating it.”
You never know what somebody else is going through and you never know what a simple act of kindness could do. So do good. Be good. Feel good. Be humble. Be happy. Be kind.
“Try to make one person happy everyday, and then in ten years you will have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.” -Sydney Smith
