MFE FAMILY CRUISE RECAP!

Back in March my family and I went on a 5 day Carnival cruise! The name of our ship was the Carnival Fantasy and we stopped at two different ports; Yucatan and Cozumel, both in Mexico! I wrote this post at the of each day so I wouldn’t forget any of the details. And I had planned to make this post wayyy sooner but I wanted to wait until my vlog of the trip was finished as well! OH YEAH, I also made a vlog of our trip! It was my first vlog ever and I’m super excited about it. The video will be linked below! The vlog and this blog post is mostly for my own personal memories but I hope whoever watched and reads enjoys it as well!

VLOG.

We got to the cruise ship parking garage around 11, went through security and got on board! We hung around the pool all afternoon, explored the ship, and got ready to leave port! We eventually got ready for dinner, we ate in our assigned dinning hall, chit chatted with the other family assigned to the same table as us, and watched a guy do magic. The magician was REALLY good! He did this really awesome trick on my dad and it got all of us! After dinner Nate headed to bed and the rest of the family went down to the karaoke bar! There were a few good performers, we kept talking about going on stage and singing a number but none of us had the courage. We didn’t stay too long, we were all exhausted so we headed to bed!

I didn’t sleep very well that first night on the ship, I woke up multiple times during the night and woke up with an awful sore throat. My parents came knocking on my door at 7am for the sunrise we were about to miss! So I grabbed my shoes and my phone and we headed to the 10th deck (Leto) and watched a beautiful sunrise over the vast Golf of Mexico. And in that moment, nothing else mattered. It didn’t matter that I slept so poorly, it didn’t matter that I felt like poop, nothing mattered because this was the moment I was most excited for. I already love the sky, the sunrise and sunsets especially. And to witness something so beautiful bought me so much peace. Reminded me of every good thing in life and that this life is incredible. After the sun had risen we hit the gym! I did a little bit of cardio and then hit back and bi’s with my old man. We went back to our rooms, showered, and got ready for a fun day at sea! We got out to the pool early, eat breakfast on the deck watching the ocean waves from the movement of the ship, which was also incredible! After a few hours in the sun I felt even worse than when I woke up. I took some DayQuil and ending up taking a little cat nap. I woke up from a knock on the door, it was my dad. We ended the evening walking around the ship a little bit and playing some phase 10! We headed back to our cabins to relax a little and get ready for Captians Dinner! We got all dolled up and we were looking so good! Dinner was great, again! And I even tried alligator!! We saw some more awesome magic and ended dinner with a delicious lava cake! We took some family photos and then changed into something a little more comfy. To end the night we headed back outside and played ping-pong. It was so cool to see the ocean after dark, although you couldn’t actually see anything but pitch black. Which was the cool part, but it was also terrifying and freaky.

WE’RE IN MEXICO!!! Dad, Nate, Pay and I woke up at 6:42 to watch the sunrise!! It was a pretty good one! The actual sun comes up so quickly once it makes its appearance, which is neat and something I never knew or realized before! After we all got ready and ate breakfast we headed off the ship! We took a taxi from the port into town and spent the first part of our day walking around and exploring the small town. We ending up chatting with an American guy who lives in Yucatan 6 months our of the year which was an intriguing conversation! Then we spent the rest of our time in town on the beach! I still wasnt feeling all that great and I ended up falling asleep on the beach! As we were getting ready to leave my parents and the guy who sold them beer got into about payment price! (He was trying to charge them way more than the original price he said when we first approached us). We did a little bit more walking around town before heading back to port and my dad saved a little fish’s life who has flopping on the deck begging to be thrown back into the ocean! Once we got checked back onto the ship we headed straight for the pool. We spent a few hours there, I read for most of the day but I started to get burnt and the heat was getting to me a little bit so I headed back inside to cool down and shower! We all got ready and went to the military appreciation ceremony on the ship, which actually turned out to be really nice! Then we played a few games of cards while having a few drinks and listening to music! Finally, we headed to the buffet to grab dinner. Pay and I were beat so we were to bed early! (8pm!!) I’m such a grandma but the sun drained me and I wanted to be up the next morning for the sunrise!

Side note- I also tried fried ship today and it wasn’t bad!!

COZUMEL BABY!!! We docked in Cozumel and it was SUCH a fun day! I woke up thinking I was hearing rain outside… and I was debating getting up for the sunrise… well thank god I did!! It was a major banger and the best sunrise thus far. (Honestly, I think it’s the best sunrise I’ve ever seen) Absolutely gorgeous. Finally it was 8am and we were headed off the ship. We strolled around the gift shops briefly on our way out of port. We caught a taxi and headed to Playa Mia. We got there and it was closed for a private party so we ended up at Carlos and Charlies and it was BEAUTIFUL. I can’t even begin to describe the color of the ocean. It was paradise. We layed out on the beach the entire time we had off the ship. We headed back about an hour before board time and again, briefly strolled through the gift shops. I got a 6 for $5 deal of shot glasses and a cute purple hate! I also bought my dad a cool Cozumel mug. We spent the rest of the day pool side, I did some more reading, and we ended the evening playing some cornhole. We showered up and got ready for dinner. The boys went to watch a basketball game and the girls grabbed dinner on the Leto deck. We all met up afterwards and went to a few shows. We lost Nate. We found Nate.

This was our last day on the ship. Nate and I woke for the sunrise, it was nice! We grabbed breakfast and then headed back to our room to get ready. A little while later we were all at the pool. We spent most of our day there! Nate, Pay, and I went to the crew life Q&A which was really interesting! I learned a lot about the cruise and it’s industry as a whole (including the fact that there is a jail and a morgue on the ship). And then back to the pool (of course). We spent probably another hour before we headed back to our room to shower and get ready for our last evening on the ship. We spent the evening listening to a live band and playing cards! Mom got a little tipsy and her, Pay, and I shared lots and lots of laughs! It’s so fun to be together now that we’re all older. Today was the first day I woke up with a sunburnt which is super surprising! And after spending the day at the pool I was burnt even more. (But way less than I expected I’d be after this trip). It was a relaxing day. Which is needed since we had a 9 hour car ride back home the next day!

I’d just like to say a huge THANK YOU to my parents for taking our whole family on this trip. It was so so fun and I look forward to all our family cruises in the future! I jotted down a few things from this entire trip that I was really really grateful for or moments I just felt impeccable.

  • watching the sunrise from above the clouds (on my flight to Nashville)
  • Actually read a book from cover to cover for the first time in months
  • Jam seshs in the car with the fam bam
  • My best friend/sister heart was soaring as I watched Tal and Darren together in Nash, I am so so happy for her
  • Pitch perfect jam seshs on the way to Bama
  • every sunrise
  • the clouds on my flight back to Texas
