Hi! And welcome to Be the Sunshinee! Today I am SO excited to be sharing my first Christmas related content of the 2018 season! For those who know me personally, I am Christmas OBSESSED! I love every thing about the holiday season and Christmas is my absolute favorite.

Today I am going to be sharing how I turned our apartment into a cozy Christmas corner! Our apartment this year is bigger than the apartment we were in last year but I kept pretty much all the same decorations! I really want to lose my mind in the Hobby Lobby Holiday Decor but I know Andrew would kill me!

I love having personalized items in my home because for me, that’s what makes it feel so homey. So much time is spent in your home and I love have the free range of creating a happy space.

For years now I have always counted down to Christmas by “sleeps” and have been on the search for the perfect Christmas countdown for over a year. I FINALLY found one that counts down by sleeps too!

I really love this countdown because if you do prefer to countdown by “days” that option is available as well!

The only thing I don’t like about this countdown is that on some days you’re unable to put the correct number because both blocks do not contain every number. (Hopefully that made sense).

If you’re interested in purchasing your own Christmas Countdown I linked this one HERE.  I purchased this from Etsy and the shop owner also has one that reads “____ sleeps until Santa arrives” with the blank space as a mini chalk board which is so adorable!

Another personalized item I love having is our stockings! I got Andrew and I’s last year and I went back to the same shop so we could get one for Bella but I think the owner disabled his shop so I get her a different one!

These stocking are great because you can customize them to say whatever you want! I also got to pick the design of each stocking as well at the font (For Andrew and I’s). They are also very spacious so you can fit a tone of stocking stuffers in them! The shop is linked HERE in case the shop every comes back up! I ordered Bella’s this year, also from Etsy, and I love it! Hers is also extremely spacious, way too big for such a tiny pup, so she’s definitely going to be getting spoiled! The last personalized item we have is our Advent Calendar! This is probably my favorite Christmas decoration we have because it is the exact same one I had growing up for as long as I can remember at my parent’s house. I started searching last holiday season for the perfect advent calendar because I knew I wanted one that I least resembled the one from my childhood. I also knew they was no way to get the same one. (Or so I thought). I spent WEEKS searching all over different sights and when I did come by the literal exact same one I almost pooped my pants. I could not believe it and was ecstatic! After I ordered it I ran into issue after issue with the post office. The calendar shipped all the way to Texas, some mishap happened and is got sent ALL the way back to the Esty shop owner. I paid shipping again to have it sent back because it meant to much to me!

HERE is where you can get the best advent calendar of all time! The perfect addition to have for years to come.

For the rest of my Christmas decorations I pretty much find everything at Walmart, Target, Hobby Lobby, and the dollar store!

This is where most of the Christmas decorating happens! Like I said, most of this stuff is from last year but I will try to have as many link or dupes as I can!

Let’s start with the couch.

I just take the normal couch pillows I have year round and turn them around so they are the same color as the couch! The the two smaller read pillows are (I believe) from Walmart and the Elf feet Pillow is either from Walmart or Target! Same with the blanket!

Here are some similar items!

Pillows from Target

Blankets from Target

Pillows from Walmart

Blankets from Walmart

Amazon is also a great place to shop for smaller items too!

In order to put our tree up we had to move our book shelf to the opposite side of our little sun room nook. I kept everything on here pretty much the same, I just added a cute little reindeer stuffed animal, I changed out our felt quote board, added some oversized colorful Christmas lights, and added this painted I made Andrew three years ago!

Super easy and I love these fun lights! I originally bought them last year for our Christmas card photo and I love the look of having them strung through the shelfs!

*Lights were purchased at Walmart*

The TREE!!!! It’s not Christmas without a Christmas Tree. And as much as I love the holiday season, this is the one part I don’t like. I hate actually putting up the Christmas tree. Getting it out of storage, putting it together and separating all the branches, I’m even not a fan of decorating the tree. But I love looking at it when it’s all finished!

I have a mini tree skirt and a mini tree star this year (both of these are from the mini tree I had when I lived in a dorm room) and it looks kind of silly but it makes it ours! We got the tree at Target last year and all of the garland, lights, and ornaments are from Walmart!

$9.99 each!

Both Walmart and Target have a variety of different tree colors, sizes, and light options! You really just have to decide what you like and what you want and I’m sure they’ll have it! Walmart has 6.5ft trees starting as low at $39 and Target currently has 40% off their Christmas Trees!!!!

Let me start by saying, this photo really makes me realize how badly I need to dust our TV and TV stand.. oh well! I love this part of the living room because I love being able to see Christmas cheer while sitting on the couch!

The metal Merry Christmas sign is from, you guessed it, Target!  I just aded some red and green garland to our self above the TV to tie everything together.

I can’t remember when I got this Merry Christmas sign from but I know it’s either Walmart, Target, or the Dollar Tree. Again, I just strung some garland down here to add some dimension to the area. I took some left over garland and put it in the bottom of these glass jars (I have these jars out year round and got them from Walmart) and added mini Christmas ornaments on top!

Now onto the kitchen!

Over our kitchen cabinets I just added some red and silver garland to add a little cheer and connect the living room and kitchen together.

Decorative towels are a great (and cheap) addition to add to your kitchen as well as bathrooms! I got both of these from Walmart for about $3-4 and after the holidays are over I pack them up with all the other decorations so they last because they are only being used for a short amount of time!

I really only decorate the living space because that is where we spend most of our time! And it’s where guests hang out when we have guests over. The only other Christmas decoration we have outside of this area is some adorable pillows in our bedroom!

I found these off of Instagram last year and immediately ordered them. I love them so much and love the little Christmas spirit they bring into the bedroom!

Direct link HERE!

I’m really trying hard not to buy any more decorations this year just because I am trying to save! But, you never know what’ll happen! If I do end up purchasing any more decor I will definitely share it with you guys on my Instagram!

For my next Christmas Content I think I’m going to be linking/sharing some different decor pieces I would LOVE to have but just can justify buying right now. But don’t worry, they will still be very very reasonably priced! Let me know what other Christmas content you’d be interested in reading! And HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
